Blogging has grown a lot over time and it is now an incredibly effective marketing tool that businesses can use regularly. Today, we’re giving you a guide to writing a good blog post.

“53% of marketers say that blogging is their top content marketing priority”

According to OptinMonster

Blogs can be uploaded as frequently as you like, however, one a week is the average. There are lots of different styles of blog posts that you can create, they can be lists, infographic posts, ‘how to’ posts and many more.

What makes a good quality blog?

Understanding the audience

To write a high-quality blog, you need to understand your audience, you can use analytics to help you with this. Using analytics, you can see what your users are interested in reading on your website, and therefore you can create more content of a similar style. If your followers are reasonably active on social media platforms, why not start a poll asking them if there’s anything they’d like to know more about regarding your industry? This can give you an abundance of ideas to get you started. Along with this, you’ll have to work out the style of writing that your audience responds best to. Blogs tend to be more colloquial, but they should remain professional throughout.

Catchy titles

A catchy title is an absolute must. Your title needs to be clear and concise, telling people exactly what your blog is all about. It’s a good idea to do some research into how blog titles are written in your industry, as the style can vary and you want to make sure that you’re appealing to the right audience. A great way to capture an audience is to use numbers in your title, such as ‘6 tips for…’, this shows your readers exactly what they should expect to learn from reading your blog.

Choosing your content

The aim of a blog is to teach your readers the knowledge of your industry, in a simple way. It’s likely that people will be reading your blogs because they’re interested or they want to learn more about the topic. You will want to include headings, no one wants to look at a huge block of text that hasn’t been broken up. Use simple, short headings that directly relate to what each section is talking about. As well as headings, images can be used to reinforce the messages from your text.

Plan your content

Failing to plan is planning to fail. Planning out a blog post is easy, and it can save you time when you start writing your blog. You can split up your post into as many sections as you see necessary, but remember that you don’t want to create a blog that’s too long. Plan your content to be concise and clear, getting straight to the point so that the reader remains interested. Using headings will really help you to focus your content.

Featured images

Every blog should have a featured image which links to the topic of your blog. You can be quite imaginative with your imagery. It’s a good idea to stick to a certain style of image, this will help your website look more consistent. Images are really important because they make large blocks of text look more appealing, so try and use them where appropriate.
